Drive Thru History® – Drive Thru History® “Acts to Revelation” Review

I thought I couldn’t have been happier than to have the opportunity to review Drive Thru History® as my third assignment with the Review Crew. When I found out it was Drive Thru History® “Acts to Revelation” , I was even more excited.

When I come to the actual places and walk where the actual people in the Bible walk, it gives me an entirely new appreciation……”

-Dave Stotts

Dave Stotts does a phenomenal job of bringing the Books of Acts-Revelation to life! His likable personality, quirky sense of humor, and zeal shine in each episode. When your teenagers are eager to watch them, that tells you they must be good! I have viewed other videos in the Drive Thru History® series, and all of them are fantastic! The information, presentation, and cinematography are all top-notch.

About Drive Thru History® “Acts to Revelation”

The DVD set includes 18 episodes (approximately 30 minutes each) on 3 disks. The disks come in a book-like case. Inside the case is a beautiful study guide with stunning photos, episode summaries, discussion questions, as well as a short “Side Road” section with even more information for each episode. The study guide also includes answers for the questions.

Drive Thru History® “Acts to Revelation” takes you on an ultimate road trip beginning in Jerusalem and on to Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Rome, and other prominent places in the New Testament. With much of the political instability in these areas, he takes us as close as he safely can in a few areas. You will visit the place where Stephen was stoned, where Saul was transformed, where Phillip confronted a sorcerer, and so much more. Not only do we see the historical landmarks, Dave also shows us the culture in these places as they are today. He even stops to enjoy some pizza in Rome.

How we used Drive Thru

We viewed the episodes twice a week as a Bible class in our homeschool. I chose to type out the questions from the study guide for both kids. It helped them to be more attentive and gave them things to look for as we viewed the material. They jotted the answers as we viewed the DVD. I intend to put them in a binder to be used again later as a review or turn it into a fun Q&A game. We viewed 12 of the 18 episodes, and I’m looking forward to finishing the series in the coming weeks.

What we thought about Drive Thru

I would consider Drive Thru History® “Acts to Revelation” a fantastic supplement for studying Bible history. It is intended for middle-school aged kids through adult, although I think some younger ones would enjoy it as well. This series would be great for churches, co-ops, as well as a family movie night with popcorn!

I really like that the producers end every episode with a statement encouraging viewers to read the scriptures themselves. It reminds me of a preacher we enjoy who says “Don’t take it from me, search and see”. The DVD’s will help envision some of the amazing people, places, and events in the Bible. I like how these videos give you additional background as to what was going on around these places at the time and a look at their culture. I also thought it was interesting to learn things like how long a Roman mile is, use of bronze mirrors, and the first place to use hydraulic concrete. So much of what we know today comes from these places.

Whether you believe it or not, these men in these Books changed the world forever in history.

I would highly recommend anything from the Drive Thru History® series!
