Building Blox are for Everyone!

Do teens still play with blocks? It has been a while since my two have actually sat down and made something with blocks. I’ve noticed they do still stack the little butter and jelly tubs at restaurants to pass the time, so I thought I’d give Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks from Brain Blox a try! I hoped it would be fun for them, and bring back a little nostalgia for me to the days when there were blocks strewn about the house.

What are Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks?

Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks are made from 100% all-natural, precision-cut, chemical-free, natural pine wood from New Zealand that is renewable and non-toxic. They are simple stacking blocks that need nothing but your imagination to use. The blocks come in sets of 100, 200, or 300 wooden planks. We received the 200-plank set which also includes a booklet with ideas to get started, and a canvas drawstring bag for storage or building on the go.

How we used Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks

We built things, of course, but you can do even more! Brain Blox has an awesome website with free downloads of printable idea cards with eight difficulty levels to choose from for all ages. There’s also another download of a free book that is full of fun building ideas. You can also test your IQ with the brain puzzles provided using the blocks. This is fantastic for working on critical thinking and reasoning skills. Many of the challenges were difficult for me! (Hints and solutions are provided if some extra help is needed.) There are several more videos on their YouTube channel. In typical Brain Blox fashion, the quirky videos themselves are amusing.

What we thought of Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks

Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks are a timeless toy that can be enjoyed at any age. What I like about this company is their mission to bring families together that doesn’t involve screens, encourages creativity, and they have brought back forgotten toys of yesteryear. Thanks to Brain Blox my kids as well as myself have learned how to play chess. I recently had the opportunity to review their chess set, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I love that Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks provided ideas that I could use with older children. That type of creativity is something that is missing in many of today’s youth. The planks are an excellent tool to sharpen thinking skills, take on challenges, and stretch creativity. There is really no limit in how you can use Brain Blox Wooden Building Planks for a wide range of ages. The box even states they’re for ages 4-104, and I believe that to be true.

For my older kids, I can see us using these as we study American History/Geography for possibly building monuments. We could also use them with STEM activities. For fun, minute-to-win-it game ideas came to mind. The possibilities are endless when you think outside the box, or should I say blox?
