A fresh start. A clean slate. A time of review and renewal. That’s what a new year is to me, and that’s why I love it so much! Of course, I can’t start the new year without heading to my hometown to see the Oriental Dragon Run. Although the spectacle lasts less than 20 minutes, I wouldn’t miss it!Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – January 2020”
I don’t know about you, but I thoroughly enjoyed my November. I did not do anything December related – no shopping, no decorating, and no over-planning. We seemed to have an unusually vivid and longer fall season than I can remember in the past. The pretty leaves seemed to hang onto the trees and proudly display their colors until last week. We took some time to learn to identify trees in our own backyard. We visited a drive-thru animal park while we were at a Bible conference, and a couple of weeks ago travelled to the beautiful mountains of NC for our Thanksgiving.Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – December”
November happens to be one of my favorite months! The weather is finally starting to feel like fall, we have got a good routine going in our homeschool, and we have a family tradition of taking a mini vacation over Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, November is a month that gets overshadowed by the frenzy of Christmas. We did it!!! We survived the school year unscathed, and I survived my first year of teaching a high schooler! Completion is such a good feeling, and I am looking forward to
some time off.…..who am I kidding? I’m actually looking forward to next year already! I can assure you, my kids are not saying the same thing!
I can see the light at the end of the homeschooling tunnel for the 2018-19 school year! How about you? We are not year-rounders, and I am looking forward as much as the kids are for a long break! My goal is to administer our required standardized testing just after Memorial Day, and when that’s done, we’re done! Unfortunately, due to some changes, starts, and stops, my girl will be working on algebra this summer. One of the many reasons I love homeschooling is that we can work at our own pace. This allows time for real learning and understanding. So, in the sweltering NC heat, we can stay inside and fill in some of the gaps that we need to before moving on.Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – May”
