Same thing, different month – right? We have still been plugging away at our homeschooling without field trips, co-ops, or park days. It’s been kind of nice not running around to every event, and for the most part, we’ve been doing what we have always done. Because the majority of our life does revolve around the home, it’s when we go out in public, it hits me. What everyone is calling the “new normal” is not normal at all! It is not normal for businesses I support to be closed. It is not normal for public areas like parks, playgrounds, and beaches to be closed. It’s not normal for people not to socialize. It’s definitely not normal for the majority to be walking around with their faces covered, then look at you like you’re the disease if you’re not masked! Well, it’s a new month, and it’s time to move on.Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – May 2020”
What a difference a month makes, right? That’s probably the understatement of the century! Last month in Fanatic News Flash, my typical newsletter took a turn to the topic of time. In light of the clocks moving forward, I mentioned how I felt like I had been springing forward on a daily basis for several years, and we’re not even as busy as most families I know. I also wrote about how to get back a million minutes in the life of your child by choosing to homeschool. And here we all are!Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – April”
My monthly newsletter was almost ready when it took a whole other direction. Since we are “springing forward”, I turned my direction to clocks, and my normal monthly newsletter evolved into something I thought was more “timely”. Fanatic News Flash will resume next month.
Is it me, or weren’t we just ringing in the new year? So far this year is moving at super speed! The latter part of February was big for us. Our first – born turned 16, and we surprised her with a trip to Florida! We typically don’t do big things like that, but she’s a special girl, and we wanted to celebrate her milestone birthday in a special way! I can’t wait to get a post together and tell you all about our adventure!
Time is not something I think too much about, until I printed out a small poster for our daughter’s celebration. It’s one of those things where the age (16) is broken down by weeks, days, hours, and minutes. By the way, at sixteen, they have lived for a total of 8,409,600 minutes. Pretty fascinating if you like numbers!Continue reading “TIME- What if you had a MILLION extra minutes?”
It’s a big month for our family! Our first born will be turning 16 towards month’s end. As a mama, I’m both thrilled and terrified. I suppose that’s normal for those who have ‘been down that road’ before. She’s definitely ready, I’m definitely not. Watching your kids grow up is much more difficult than I thought! For her special day, we’re doing something big! (Not a new car type of big, but something that will totally surprise her). She has never asked for parties and such, and has always been content with a small family celebration. This year, we will celebrate this milestone differently. You will have to stay tuned to see what it is!Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash-February 2020”
A fresh start. A clean slate. A time of review and renewal. That’s what a new year is to me, and that’s why I love it so much! Of course, I can’t start the new year without heading to my hometown to see the Oriental Dragon Run. Although the spectacle lasts less than 20 minutes, I wouldn’t miss it!Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – January 2020”
I don’t know about you, but I thoroughly enjoyed my November. I did not do anything December related – no shopping, no decorating, and no over-planning. We seemed to have an unusually vivid and longer fall season than I can remember in the past. The pretty leaves seemed to hang onto the trees and proudly display their colors until last week. We took some time to learn to identify trees in our own backyard. We visited a drive-thru animal park while we were at a Bible conference, and a couple of weeks ago travelled to the beautiful mountains of NC for our Thanksgiving.Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – December”
November happens to be one of my favorite months! The weather is finally starting to feel like fall, we have got a good routine going in our homeschool, and we have a family tradition of taking a mini vacation over Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, November is a month that gets overshadowed by the frenzy of Christmas. It’s the one month that I feel like being a procrastinator isn’t a bad thing.Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – November”
I survived our first month back to school, and we’re off to a great start! Read on to find out what we’ve been up to!
I don’t know about you, but September flew by faster than a toupee in a hurricane! Speaking of hurricane, Dorian was on our heels at the time of my newsletter last month. Thankfully, the storm weakened and was back to sea quickly. It’s still hot and humid, and the mosquitoes are terrible! I’ll be glad when fall makes it’s full arrival.Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – October”
We are starting the school year off with a bang this week! New classes, new school supplies, new routines, and a hurricane!Continue reading “Fanatic News Flash – September”
